Want to help newts in Chiswick?

Netty Ribeaux, Conservation Officer at the Gunnersbury Triangle nature reserve, is looking to recruit volunteers to help migrating newts in nearby Chiswick Business Park.  Currently there are hundreds of newts getting stuck in the car parks, unable to reach their breeding ponds. Netty is looking for volunteers who are able to spend about an hour or so after dark (ideally 7-10pm) collecting trapped newts (and the occasional toad) and relocating them in the breeding pond. This will be happening every warm evening (about 10°C +) from now until mid-March when the numbers should drop off significantly.

If you’d like to be involved, please contact Netty directly on nribeaux@wildlondon.org.uk, mobile 07734 599 729, landline 020 8747 3881.
