In keeping with our ethos of being a friendly neighbourhood gardening club, we repeated last year’s successful new format of keeping the formalities to a minimum so we had more time to for the ‘after show party’ to socialise .
A good turnout was seen with a gratifying full house of members attending.
The formal stuff was dealt with briskly: elections, Treasurer’s Report (we’re now back to a comfortable financial position) and review of the year – happily reporting continued growth in our membership – and there were some good questions from the floor which kept me on my toes.
The highlight for me was a motion from the floor thanking me for my work as Chairman; the ‘lowlight’ was fulfilling my title literally by putting away all the chairs after the meeting.
I’m a sucker for free food and drinks (who isn’t?), though, so I really enjoyed chatting and sampling all the lovely home made cakes – thanks to our bakers and thanks to you all for coming!
