Members may have wondered how the Sensory Herb Garden we donated last Spring to neighbouring Chiswick School has fared over the dry Summer months of the school holiday.
We’re happy to report that, thanks to the efforts of Sue Gewanter (pictured below), the school’s Enrichment Officer and a stalwart member or our Catering Team, the plants have continued to thrive.
As Sue explains: “I wanted to make sure that the Sensory Herb Garden, which has proved such a great success with the students – many of whom didn’t realise you could release such wonderful aromas just by rubbing the leaves – survived over the holiday period, so I came back to the grounds every couple of days or so to give them a good watering.”
“I’d like to thank the Site Team who look after the school grounds, too, for helping out with the task even though it wasn’t part of their job spec – they’ve been wonderful, particularly during the week I was away.”
“The sensory herbs are doing so well, in fact, that they’re getting quite big and I may soon have to give them a haircut – or at least a little trim!”
