Trading Hut News

We took delivery of 4 pallets multi-purpose compost and 2 pallets of horse manure this morning (Thursday)

It has been decided that we will open for business on Saturday 11th April 2010 from 10.00am to 12.00am

We are open as an agricultural supplies shop and will be selling our compost, seeds and seedlings.

The plants available include cabbage, cauliflower, kale etc. which can be planted out now but may need some protection if we have a hard frost. Also available will be courgettes and tomatoes which are not frost hardy and will need to be kept frost free.

We are not open for panic buyers and will limit the quantities available in the first instance. Remember we are sowing seeds and pricking out plants on a daily basis.

There will be no parking in the area of the Trading and Nissen Huts, but parking can be found on Staveley Road or on the grass verge by the main entrance.

To reduce the number of volunteers we need to have available I am afraid that there will not be any help with compost. You can use our barrows and trollies to transport your goods.

There will be a strict one-way system in operation which will be clearly marked out. Where possible we would encourage members to wear gloves and masks if they have them. It will also be sensible to bring a bag or box to carry your purchases.

All transactions will be by card only and only paid up members will be served – so please bring your membership card with you to help speed things along.

You must practice social distancing and comply with the markings on the ground.

Please remember that allotments are not places for social gatherings so only the tenants and their families are permitted on the sites

Further notices regarding opening days and times and availability of goods will in the first instance be posted on www.growchiswick.org where you can register to receive these updates and pay your membership.

Some members are asking if they can order and pay online for collection at a later date. I am afraid that we do not have the resources to do this, so the only way to purchase goods is personally from the trading hut.

Keep well!!!

Dennis Flaherty

Allotment Secretary
