A convivial review of our 100th anniversary year was held at our Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) on Sunday 24 April in the Trading Hut. Although the numbers were lower than last year’s AGM, a goodly number of members attended which was sufficient for our recently-lowered quorum, so my Golden Retriever, Holly, wasn’t required to make up the numbers.
It was an unusually uncontroversial meeting, with general accord on the matters addressed. We also had a number of great suggestions under ‘Any Other Business’, each of which, in their own small way, should make our community centre even better than ever.
One involved a request to include gardening books in our new book stall, which, in view of the avowed aims of our Society, seemed eminently sensible! One member volunteered to donate books on gardens, which should start us off nicely. All other contributions to our book stall (whether on gardening or not) are, of course, most welcome.
Mike Thomas asked if we could serve tea and coffee during Trading Hut hours – and, better still, he volunteered to do it! I look forward to drinking coffee with you all over many happy Sundays to come. (Thanks, Mike!)
Another member requested the Suggestion Book could be placed in a more obvious place – so we look forward to more great new ideas in the year ahead!
