    Hello
We have three big wheelie bins that have either lost their lids or in the process of loosing them. They are no good for our household rubbish anymore and because we bought them long before the council supplied the black wheelie bins, we are not sure how to dispose of them.
I thought I would ask if they might be of use to you on the allotments either as large containers for rain water or to adapt into compost bins.
Please let me know if they could be of interest and I will find some way of getting them to you.
    Thanks Patrizia

      Hi Patrizia

I’ll ask Henry to put something in the newsletter, you could also put a guest blog on this site – with a photo?

Greetings, Patrizia and thanks for your offer, I’ll mention it in the next newsletter – would you please email me (HenryG@PositiveProfile.com) with the contact details members should use to get in touch with you if they want them?
      Kind regards,
      Henry

    Hello Dennis
I have a greenhouse in a small back yard with no space for a compost heap. As its coming to the end of the growing season I will be tidying up, discarding the old plants and emptying pots. Do you have a communal compost heap that I could add to? It’s all compostable material, tomato plants, cucumbers plants, peppers, courgettes and old compost. My other option is to take it to the tip, but I’m never sure if that is reused or just ends up in landfill. I would rather it goes back into use.
    Best Regards
    Kieran

      Hello Kieran,
I am afraid that we do not have a communal compost heap.
I can assure you the all garden waste etc is composted by the Council who sell the compost to residents.
But why not compost it yourself? All you need is a Dalek shape plastic composter which is not much larger than a dustbin. All your kitchen waste, except meat, can be put in, along with your garden waste. You can add any shredded paper to the mix. To assist composting you can add Garrotta, which is a compost accelerator. In a few months you will find that the waste, with the help of microbes and worms etc., has been turned into a usable and free compost. Try to avoid putting any woody material in as this takes longer to rot down. The compost bin will not smell and will become an asset that you will wonder how you ever managed before.

    Hello Claire,

All the allotments in Hounslow are maintained by Lampton Greenspces360 on behalf of the Council. There is currently a waiting list and you would need to contact the allotments team on the Hounslow.Gov website to find out where the longest waiting lists are. They will need to know which of the 6 sites in chiswick you are interested in. When the current crisis is over you can visit me in our Trading hut in Staveley Road Chiswick W4 2SJ on any Sunday morning between 1000 – 1230 and I would be happy to talk you through the options.

    Dennis.

    Hello Dennis,

I hope you’re well in these unprecedented times.

I would love to put my name down for an allotment and wondering if you would be kind enough to tell me how long the waiting list is and what requirements you expect from those lucky enough to get one? I’ve been gardening vegetables now for just over ten years and love it more than anything. I adore your group of allotments and being able to cycle there each day would be a dream come true for me.

    Many thanks in advance.
    Claire Cessford
